The Postcards for Mom Pranksters

Mom's husband, Jim, sent me an email this morning: I can't get your mom out of the house long enough to scan any of the post cards yet but I'll keep trying. I don't have my computer on line yet.

Hehe... we'll have to kidnap her or something...

Well I am off to St Louis for the weekend. Hope to have some good stories that I can post on Tuesday. I am off on Monday.

Mom called my office yesterday and I was not here. One of My Airmen answered the phone and said to call my mother. Mom has never called my office. So with this in mind I called her right back to see what was so urgent. The urgency of the message was that she wants me to bring my chainsaw up to cut some stumps for her. I talked to her later in the day yesterday and she said that she spent all morning painting the stumps she wants cut red. Who paints tree stumps red? I think she is actually loosing it. Will and I will add to her delusions this weekend. You are going to be around right Will?

I spoke (via email) with the reporter from AP today, we will chat next week about the Project. I'm looking forward to the Press, and I'm considering adding a page on the site for Press info. I've had someone from NPR and the St. Petersburg Times contact me, along with an offer to try to get me on Leno. How would I explain that to Mom?

Trouble in Canada scribbles: Finally got the first postcard ready. Just so you don't think I'm sending your mother strange Chinese porn via postcard, it says (in Chinese) China is big. I am Canadian. You are American. My name is Xiao Quo. (Which is my chinese name.) Hopefully the other ines won't look like a four year old wrote them. Damn, Chinese is hard!

Jennifer sent me this note: I know I'm early... having a slow day at work, so I went to comics.com and got a comic to send to your mom... I figured you'd might want a copy... I went into Photoshop and erased the words on the last frame and wrote "This is payback for hiding my picture" ... I have the original also if we're going to send them later.

Kevin, the not-so-good-looking of the two of us is coming to Saint Louis this weekend. I'm looking forward to sitting down at Mom's house and both of us blaming the other. It's gonna be hard to not crack a smile, but I think I can definitely outlast him...

Sunday is a big family get-together (and everyone is in on it except Mom) so she'll be blaming everyone... that'll be fun.

We should have some really interesting posts/stories early next week...

I've talked to Mom's husband a little bit about swiping some postcards and scanning them for all to see. He said he'd do it, but he has to get Mom out of the house first... so that's cool... We've got an in - if we can just get Mom out!

I'm once again getting a decent amount of mail about Mom and Mother's Day in particular. I can't do anything special for Mother's Day in reference to this site. Afterall, the idea is that Mom doesn't know who's behind this! Mother's Day would simply give it away.

Mom's birthday is in May, and we may plan something special for late May. We'll see...

Well I am back home for a while. I talked to mom this morning and she said that she is getting about 5-10 pieces of "silly mail" everyday. She mentioned that someone sent her a postcard commenting that I was recently in Wisconsin. After reading the post I see why. That is not fair to my denials. Mom said that it must be someone close to her. I commented that this whole thing is really strange. She agreed.

Was contacted by a writer for AP for a possible write-up but have yet to hear back from her.

Was also asked if I'd be interested in a Leno spot. I'd go for it, but I'd rather do Dave's show. He's more Mom oriented if that makes any sense... C'mon Dave give me a call!

Or maybe I should go for the bird in the hand...?

In your next correspondence with Mom, mention the phrase "This is for hiding my picture" or something similar. Make it obscure and not obvious.
