Postcard Project Update - Friday, May 21, 2004
I never mentioned it, but I talked to the Letterman people last week. She said they had decided to pass, because my Mom found out about the joke.
Where were they the previous seven months?! Darn. Postcard Project Update - Thursday, May 20, 2004
What a lot we lost when we stopped writing letters. You can't reread a phone call.

Folks, We Have A Winner!
The Alternative House - aka The Abused and Homeless Children's Refuge - will be the recipient of the charity proceeds from our upcoming auction. Congrats to them! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4169693365 Bidding starts at the high, high price of 99 cents. Good luck!
I have a few notes on the auction. When picking a category, how do you choose 'Mom'? I sorted through the options and had to choose from:
Everything Else -> Memberships and Everything Else -> Specialty Services -> Web and Computer Services -> Internet Promotion Well, I chose Memberships. Not sure why, but I did. Although its really not a membership, I think everyone will understand. ----- The rules sound so harsh. I don't mean for them to sound that way. It's one thing, putting my Mom's address on the website, and taking the risk of weirdos sending crap, but its a bigger risk putting a stranger's address on there. Eek! It appears that the charity must accept the auction prior to it starting. Hopefully we can get this going today. It will be a 7-day auction. The resulting winner will be contacted and the website will be set up and ready to go on June 1st, 2004. I can't wait! Postcard Project Update - Wednesday, May 19, 2004
Here's a picture of Mom and I before my son's graduation. Ignore the large-looking belly. Something must be wrong with our camera...
So far it looks like the Abused Children's Center will win the poll. I'll pull the final results tomorrow morning, and I'll start the auction accordingly. You still have time to vote, but please only vote once.
http://www.postcardsformom.com/polls/may04poll.php Remember, the winner of the auction wins the rights to have their Mom barraged with mail. I can't wait!
Our youngest noodlehead fell headfirst off the top bunk at 4:30 this morning. Can you imagine waking up to the crunch of your head on the carpet? He was (obviously) pretty shaken up, and may even have a mild concussion. Poor guy. Tonight is his Kindergarten Graduation, I hope he can make it.
Ouch!
Mom and I were on Hot 96 in Evansville, Indiana this morning with Booker and Diane. I really enjoy the radio interviews. Lotsa fun. If they post the audio online, I'll find it and link to it later today.

Speaking of ads (and we were...), now's the time to get your TownLink Software, my newest software offering. While the software may seem expensive at $199, if you only sell two ads for your community, you've made your money back and then some. After that its all profit. You don't just get the software - you get 1 year free domain registration, website hosting and maintenance, and all FREE upgrades during that year. What a deal. Be the first in your community to get this, before someone else does. I've sold several this week already. More info? YourTownLink.com Postcard Project Update - Monday, May 17, 2004
I have to admit, I'm getting a bit ansy. You see, I never got to send anything to my Mom (duh!). So the new Mom will have an additional intrigue for me personally. After the huge response my Mom got, I have a feeling I'll be mailing quite a bit of stuff.
Useless stuff, of course ;) PS - My Mom reads the site now at work, so if you want to leave her a note, you can in the comments. She also told me that after her birthday on the 27th, she'll probably write a letter to our Postcard Community here, so stay tuned!
If you've been around for a while, you've probably received a newsletter or two from me. I'd like your comments on the newsletter service itself. Is it readable? Any problems with receiving it?
The reason I ask is because the Project now has well over 600 subscribers, and in order to send out more than 1000 messages a month, I have to pay. I want to make sure its working fine before I start shelling out money. |
