Postcard Project Update - Saturday, June 12, 2004
Ready to send stuff to Betty? The new newsletter (with her address) will go out within the hour. If you are not subscribed, you need to do it now.
Don't forget the rules, and check out the June item. Let's flood the unsuspecting Betty with stuff this week!
I sent the address to Will just a few minutes ago. Sorry for the long delay!
Now, a little tribute to my Mom: Everyone should be blessed with a mother like Betty Anne. I've never met another person who threw herself headlong into motherhood heart, mind, body and soul like Mom. Mom's father died after a long illness when she was 11 years old, and with her mother working to support the family, Mom just didn't have an idyllic childhood. Believe me, my sister and I did. She was the Cookie Mom for our Girl Scout troops. She stayed home with us when we were young, organizing play groups and teaching each of us to read before we were four. She never angered, and was kind and cuddly and loving. She kept our house clean, cooked us three meals a day, and unlike so many women of my own generation, felt that personally being able to give us a wholesome, happy childhood was a blessing from God. When my sister entered kindergarten, Mom started college. She only went during our school hours, and did her homework at night after we were in bed. After my father was transferred to another state for work, she switched schools, waited until she quaified for in-state tuition, and continued her studies. After six years, she earned her B.A. Magna Cum Laude -- all A's with the exception of a single B she received in a Level 4 French course the school made her take, because she'd taken the other three levels nearly 15 years earlier. The most amazing thing, to me, about my mother is how exceptionally kind and cheerful she is. She really doesn't have a mean bone in her body. In nearly thirty years, I can't remember even one time she's said something nasty about another human being. She has the most beautiful smile, and the face of a doll baby. I love her cute little teacher clothes, because she's the epitome of cute herself. I saw Mom Thursday, and she gave me the tightest, most loving hug ever. She's awesome. Tomorrow's the day. I hope. Please standby as we experience technical difficulties.
We've been receiving a decent flow of newsletter subscribers, so the word is still out. I think once Wendy gets the PO Box, things will start to flow again, and hopefully this one will be bigger than my Mom's was. In the meantime, figure this out. Postcard Project Update - Monday, June 07, 2004
I'm working on a new website that is much along the same lines as this one, but not a prank. Its gonna be fun, and will make you and someone else feel good.
Think: kids.
A big apology to all you wonderful waiting postcard mailers . . .
I didn't have time to get the box over the weekend, I'll get it Thursday. I'm going to see Mom then. |
