Postcard Project Update - Thursday, March 17, 2005
While mom hasn't mentioned any mail in the last two days, we did have a conversation about the letters on Tuesday. She got the funniest postcard so far(in my opinion) - something about a Boston artist who takes digital pictures and morphs them somehow. Anyway, the note on it was "Doesn't this remind you of Dale? I laughed so hard!" and the picture of the front was one of those orange hands for the "Don't walk" signal. It was so nonsensical I just kept laughing. Mom goes "This is the first one that mentioned Dale!" I asked her how she felt about getting the mail every day. She said she likes the ones that really are about her(and she loved the NASCAR drivers word search, she said "They person must have looked up drivers online, because they're missing the 'W' drivers...Wallace, Waltrip, etc" but she's written down every name she found in it, I think she's at 39 names). She doesn't like the ones that mention dogs or Hubert as much, because she thinks the people sending them have the wrong person and I think she kinda feels bad, like she's getting someone elses mail. She loved the note on the crossword that mentioned the robe. She said that note was dad's favorite too. She got the "Thank you for being a good person" card from Sarah the other day. She was like "This isn't even signed! How am I supposed to know who it's from!?". She even brought the cards with her to her grief counselors office on Tuesday to show him. I guess she called him last week to ask if she was going crazy.
Mom and dad don't drink much at all - dad will occasionally have a beer, but mom only has one or two drinks a year(she's a lightweight). Dad's name is Russ, in case anyone was wondering. Just as an aside - if any of you want to mention me, refer to me as Becky, not Becka...my family calls me Becky, and if she got something asking about Becka(especially spelled correctly) she'd probably start to figure out I'm involved. Also, Sindia probably shouldn't be mentioned because not too many people know about her. Not that anyone has mentioned either of us yet, but just in case. That's it for now... Well well well. Good job confusing her, folks. The references to Hubert and Jimmy and James are working wonderfully. Now she's convinced that some of you are writing to the wrong person. Today she got 7 pieces of mail. She's now told so many people about this. When my brother and his wife came on Saturday, she showed them everything. Mom's sister came down yesterday, and mom showed her. My aunt said "You like 'Cops'? I didn't know that!". Mom went and visited an old patient of hers today. Mom told this woman about all the mail she's getting. The patient said "You know, this means your address is out there somewhere for people to find it." Mom said "Yeah, but most of these letters are from Illinois, Missouri, California...nothing to worry about."
Mom got 2 postcards today. And some crosswords. One of them mentioned the missing bathrobe. The Jeff Gordon mention on the vacation spot was a nice touch. She even told me about them when I called from work. Keep it up! |
