The Postcards for Mom Pranksters

Remember last year, when the Postcard Project original Mom (mine) was in newspapers around the country? Remember when we almost got national attention on a major TV show? Well, if you don't, you're in for a treat.

The producers of Late Night with David Letterman have contacted me about being on the Mother's Day episode this year, to do Sally's reveal. Since Dave is really a Momma's boy, this will tie right in.

I'm freakin' out here!

Hi all - this is Tom here, Becka's husband, filling in temporarily while she's lying in bed feeling not-so-well-at-all.

Yesterday, her mom received five books (4 John Sandfords and one other), plus she received a key to a cottage. (!!) Russ, her husband, wanted to see the books right away, as he keeps joking that she's getting all these things from her "boyfriend".

Today, there wasn't much mail...there was a response from a lady in Somerville, who Sally had written back to. She did a very good job at giving reasons why Sally wouldn't remember her...good job at covering-up. :)

There was also a lengthy missive about the elusive bathrobe. She read it out loud to Becka, and made her laugh.

PS: Becka just shouted out from the bedroom for me to mention that her favorite movie is Dirty Dancing..

Almost every day, one or two will trickle in. Cautiously asking about her "mail", I was shown the following:
(on a glossy black background, on a small, folded notecard)
"Behind every good man is a ton of baggage that has been suppressed and is just waiting to come out..."
Then inside, the author writes "Hey Sally! We are going down to New Orleans(editors note: I visit New Orleans almost every year. First time I went, mom went with me, so that was right on!) on the weekend might make a diversion and call on Dr. Tim! What do you think??? He can be a bit moody though. Spoke to Shirl briefly a couple of weeks ago. She doesn't change. Say hi to Russ. Best wishes, Sam's mum". It was in a pretty pink envelope to match the word 'baggage' on the card. Obviously a blog reader due to the Dr. Tim, Shirl and Russ references.
Then a post card from a few days before:

Today we made it to the arch. Where are you? We are guessing you are with Jody or Carrie Jean. Anyway, how's the quilt coming?(Liz told us). Tell Jimmy and James "hi". Love, Jen"

Mom is still wondering where the lady from Somerville MA went...she wrote back to her the same time she wrote bakc to Dr. Tim and Dr. Tim's already written back. She thinks that when she tells these people she doesn't "have dogs, they'll realize they're writing to the wrong Sally". Since she seems to think someone put her name somewhere so people would write to her(still thinking maybe Shirl did it), I suggested that maybe there are other names on this list, and there could be two Sallys and people are getting them confused. This seems to pacify her. But I'd suggest that maybe if you mention Jimmy and James, the dogs, maybe to not mention things that actually are accurate? That way she still thinks there are two Sallys on some list...then again, maybe she would just think that the tqo Sallys are getting cross referenced...

She continues to do the word searches. Had me help her last night with a Johnny Cash themed one. It's hard without any words! There have been some people who kindly include the words to look for. I think April's item of the month should be something nice and fun. Maybe something purple, since that's her favorite color? We still have a few days to figure it out.

I'll be on vacation from Wednesday, March 30 - Saturday, April 2, so won't be able to update during that time. I'll make sure to post before I leave...
