Postcard Project Update - Wednesday, April 27, 2005
PLEASE stop signing mom up for magazines. The first one, Fun Family was okay because she could send it back saying no thank you, but now someone signed her up for a Disney magazine, and there's no "opt-out" feature. This really isn't funny, NOR enjoyable for mom. And it's starting to piss dad off, too.
Mom got the shirt and material yesterday. Weirdest thing - she bought the exact same material on Saturday. Freakish, isn't it? And she loved the shirt, because it's purple. Yes, she did get the Joplin MO postcard. Good news on the ankle front - it is healing, just very, very slowly. So that's a weight off her mind. Mom has now put all of the letters into one big envelope. I need to get her a box big enough for everything. She seems proud of her letters, so much so that it makes me sad to think it will end. I know she enjoys the letters, and enjoys writing back. If you do write her more than a postcard, make it more like a real letter - something that someone would want to write back to. She feels like a lot of the letters are to the wrong person, so maybe if you write it more about yourself with a mention or two about her - asking how her ankle is, or what her plans are for the summer - she might be more inclined to write back. I know a lot of you include your return address, but if she doesn't feel there's anything to answer, I don't think she writes back. I know there's a couple of letters out there now that she's just sent. ** Two new things to mention** 1) If y'all know anything about NASCAR, there's this NASCAR day thing on May 20 for some kind of charity thing http://store.nascar.com/nascarday2005/index.jsp is the link - she wants to wear her Michael Waltrip shirt that day. Maybe ask her if she'll be wearing her "Mikey" shirt that day? 2) Nashville Star. It just ended last night, but we watched the last 3 or 4 episodes together and neither of us are happy with Erika Jo winning. Maybe ask her who she liked more, the "rockabilly" guy(Jody Evans), the girl who won, or the cowboy hat guy(Jason Meadows). She liked Jody Evans best, but it'd be fun to mention all of them and ask her an opinion. Maybe then she'll write back! Postcard Project Update - Sunday, April 24, 2005
Mom went out and bought some purple fabric yesterday to go along with the fabric y'all have sent. She's starting to think about what pattern she'll use when she makes the quilt.
Mom got some books late last week, and she's writing down all the authors that you have been suggesting. She got one postcard yesterday. This last week was a little slow - other than the huge pile of mail on Monday, only a couple of other things trickled in. There were a few days with no mail at all. She's really getting down about Mothers day. Let's see if we can get a surge of mail coming in around then to lift her spirits! |
